In the late eighties and with a background in the creation of technical illustration on a traditional drawing board, Neil West joined the design industry creating technical publications and associated literature for various companies in the North of England. Whilst originally employing the now long-forgotten practice of creating physical artwork to send to printers, it wasn’t long before the digital revolution began and desk top publishing became the industry standard. With a lone Apple Mac II, pirated software and no user manual, he was set the task of learning this new technology and converting his manual skill set into one that could be performed with a mouse and keyboard.

Fast forward six years, and in 1995, enforced redundancy from a failing company caused Think Tank Creative Design to be born. It started life by offering artwork creation services to printers in Doncaster and the surrounding area, quickly gaining a reputation, and then more clients, within the print industry. This word-of-mouth method of gaining clients has continued to this day. We don’t advertise. We don’t have salesmen.

We now work directly for various clients up and down the country in all manner of industries from small local retailers to multi-national manufacturers.

We also work indirectly as what we started life as – an artwork production house. In this guise we have created designs and artwork for some of the world’s best known brands, but all under the banners of our clients.

This is what we’re happy doing and the way we intend to continue working – by adding value to our clients from our studio in a small Yorkshire village.
